Before You Begin

Publication Ethics

The ethical policies of the PLITS journal are based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and comply with the regulations set by the journal's editorial board. All readers, authors, reviewers, and editors are required to adhere to these ethical policies when collaborating with the journal. Decisions regarding the publication of articles are based on evaluations by reviewers and editorial board members, and the journal editor may consult with other editors and reviewers during this process.

The reviewers are necessary to evaluate manuscripts confidentially and solely based on their scientific content, providing constructive feedback to enhance the quality of the articles. Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is an original and new work, has not been previously published in any language, and complies with publishing and copyright regulations. Peer-Review Process

To sustain the peer review system, authors must participate in a peer review process to evaluate manuscripts from others.  When appropriate, authors are obliged to provide retractions and/or corrections of errors to the editors and the Publisher.  All papers submitted to the PLITS journal will be peer-reviewed for at least one round. PLITS journal adopts a double-review policy: authors are blind to reviewers, and reviewers are also blind to authors. The peer review process is conducted in the online manuscript submission and peer-review system. After a manuscript is submitted to the online system, the system immediately notifies the editorial office. After passing an initial quality check by the editorial office, the manuscript will be assigned to two or more reviewers.  After receiving the reviewers’ comments, the editorial team member makes a decision.

The decision after each round of peer review may be one of the following:

1. Accept without any further changes.
2. Accept with minor revision. The revised manuscript may or may not be sent to the reviewers for another round of comments.
3. Accept with major revision. Major changes are necessary for resubmission. The revised manuscript will be peer-reviewed for another round. Typically, it will be sent to the original reviewers.
4. Decline without encouraging resubmission. The manuscript is rejected for publication by PLITS.

Double-Blind Peer Review Guidelines

The Persian Language International Teaching Studies (PLITS) journal employs a double-blind peer review system where the identities of both authors and reviewers remain concealed throughout the review process. To achieve this, authors must prepare their manuscripts in a way that does not reveal their identity.

Required Information for Title Page:
The title page should include the following: Complete manuscript title, Full names of all authors and their institutional affiliations, Complete address, Telephone number, Email address of the corresponding author.

Guidelines for Preparing an Anonymous Manuscript:
To maintain manuscript anonymity during the peer review process, in addition to removing names and institutional affiliations, the following must be observed:

1. Use of Third Person:

• Instead of phrases like "As we demonstrated in our previous research"
• Use: "As demonstrated in previous research [Anonymous, 2016]"

2. Removal of Identifying Markers:

• Ensure that figures and charts contain no indications of institutional affiliation
• Remove identifying information from file names and document properties

3. Citation of Previous Work:

• Cite necessary references to your previous work as "[Anonymous, Year]"
• In the reference list, list as: "[Anonymous, 2016] Details omitted for double-blind reviewing"

4. Elimination of Peripheral Information:

• Do not mention funding sources or research sponsors
• Remove the acknowledgments section

5. Document Settings:

• Clear all identifying information from document properties
• Avoid including any information that might reveal author identities

Important Notes:

• Limit self-citations only to absolutely relevant papers
• Do not omit necessary references to previous work
• All above modifications must be applied before submitting the manuscript to the review system

Strict adherence to these guidelines ensures the quality of scientific review and helps maintain the impartiality of the evaluation process.

Manuscript Preparation and Formatting

Manuscript Format

• Manuscript must be written exclusively in Persian, adhering to proper grammar and appropriate scientific terminology.
• Use Lotus font, size 13.
• Manuscript should be prepared in Word format, single-column layout, with 3 cm margins on all sides.
• Each manuscript will receive only one unique ID; duplicate submissions may result in rejection.
• The manuscript must be accompanied by a Covering Letter including the title and author name(s).

Writing in Persian

• All publications in this journal are in Persian.
• Non-native Persian authors must ensure the text is correct and fluent.
• The journal does not provide editing services; authors are advised to have their Manuscript professionally edited before submission.

New Submission

• Submissions are made entirely online.
• Authors may submit the manuscript as a Word file with .doc or .docx extension.
• All figures, tables, and supplementary data must be included in the main manuscript file.
• Manuscript length: Minimum 8 pages, maximum 20 pages (approximately 2,000 to 5,000 words).

References and Citations

• The reference list must follow the specific formatting style of Persian Language International Teaching Studies.
• Each reference must include the following:

Author name(s), Year of publication, manuscript/book title, Chapter title (if applicable), Volume/issue number, Page numbers, A hyperlink should be provided for each reference in the bibliography, In-text citations should be highlighted in blue and appear as plain text.

Author Commitments

Originality of Work:
Authors must confirm that the submitted manuscript:

• Is an original and valid work;
• Has not been previously published in any journal (print or electronic);
• Is not under consideration by another publication.

Note: This includes similar versions in any language (including English).

Copyright:

• Written permission must be obtained from the copyright holder for any copyrighted materials used;
• The corresponding author will act on behalf of all authors.

Required Forms:

• Completion and submission of the Authorship Confirmation Form is mandatory for all authors;
• The corresponding author must accurately specify the contribution of each author to the research.

Acknowledgement of Contributors:
Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria.

• Must be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section;
• The nature of their contribution must be clearly stated.

Originality Verification:

Manuscript Preparation Requirements

Title Page
The title page must include:

• Author name(s)
• Manuscript title (concise and clear)
• Institutional affiliation and address of authors
• Email address, phone number, and fax of the corresponding author

Manuscript Title
The manuscript title must not include the names of locations, countries, or cities related to the research. Avoid using abbreviations and complex technical terms. The title should be clear and specific, avoiding ambiguous expressions. Appropriate themes for the title include the following:

Abstract
The abstract should be between 200 and 300 words and include the following elements:

• Objective(s)
• Method
• Results
• Conclusions

Important Notes:

• Do not use undefined abbreviations.
• Do not include references to sources.

Keywords
Provide 5 to 7 keywords that:

• Are not repetitive of the manuscript title;
• Do not contain abbreviations;
• Are listed in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons;
• Include abbreviations defined upon first use (if applicable).

Introduction

The introduction must:

1. Explain the background and significance of the topic;
2. Review the research background;
3. Identify the knowledge gap;
4. State the research objectives and methodology.

Key Words:

• Should be understandable for non-specialist readers;
• Avoid extensive literature discussions;
• Clearly state hypotheses;
• Save detailed results for the discussion section.

Theoretical Foundations
This section must:

1. Define the research keywords;
2. Explain conceptual dimensions and characteristics;
3. Examine the historical development of the topic;
4. Be supported by credible references.

Considerations:

• The author must demonstrate sufficient command of the subject literature;
• The presentation should be concise yet comprehensive;
• All concepts must be documented with authoritative sources;
• Logical connections between concepts should be established.

Literature Review
The literature review presents research and scholarly works related to the study topic. The objective is to explore diverse information sources to develop a comprehensive understanding of various dimensions of the research subject. Through reviewing sources, it should clarify what work has previously been conducted in this field and what the practical applications of the current research are.

Article Content
This section forms the main body of the article where research questions are addressed in detail. Using internal headings within the content strengthens logical connections and coherence between different sections. These headings can be derived from sub-questions, with each heading potentially answering one sub-question. If necessary, internal headings can be further divided into simpler, more specific subtopics.

Conclusion
The most important elements of the conclusion section include:

• Introduction to the work performed;
• Brief description of obtained results;
• Controversial points;
• Research innovations;
• Study limitations;
• Suggestions for future research.

The conclusion should be at least half a page and presented without reference to sources.

Acknowledgement
This section should be very brief and include: Thanks to individuals and mention of financial support (with official grant number).

Author Contributions
All authors must accept general responsibility for the presented content.

For single-author articles, use the following phrase:
"All stages of study design, data collection, analysis and interpretation of results, and article writing were performed by the author."

For multi-author articles:
"The authors confirm that: Study design: Author X; Data collection: Author Y; Analysis and interpretation of results: Author Z; ... All authors have evaluated the results and approved the final version of the article."

Funding

This section must: Disclose any financial support for the article; Mention the full names of funding organizations; Include the grant number (if available).

Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest occurs when professional judgment about a primary subject (such as research validity) is influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain). Authors must complete the conflict of interest disclosure form and accept responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the provided information.

The conflict of interest statement should be included in the article as follows:
"The authors declare no potential conflicts of interest concerning the publication of this work. Furthermore, the authors have fully adhered to ethical considerations including plagiarism, informed consent, misconduct, data fabrication, duplicate publication/submission, and redundancy."

References
All references, including in-text citations and bibliography, must follow APA citation standards. The reference list should first be organized alphabetically and then chronologically, and must be written in Persian. Authors are advised to use sources from the last ten years. Ensure all sources cited in the text are also listed in the references. Using reference management software such as Endnote for citation and bibliography preparation is highly recommended.

Guide to Citing One's Own Work

1. Avoid using first-person pronouns in citations (e.g., instead of "As we demonstrated (Miller, 2020)," write "As Miller (2020) demonstrated").
2. Refrain from citing your own unpublished or in-press work unless absolutely necessary.
3. Avoid excessive self-citations that may reveal your identity.

Authorship Criteria

• All authors must meet the authorship qualifications;
• The order of authors should be determined through mutual agreement among all authors;
• Authorship credit should be based on substantial contributions to study design, implementation, or data analysis and interpretation;
• All authors must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript.
