Abstract

Before doing anything, we have an image of that task in our minds. This initial image determines our direction in doing that task. We call a powerful imaginary image an image. Images are our mind's judgments about everything outside. These powerful prior images also exist in language teaching. Language learners create a mental image in their minds with their own images before and during learning. Language images are different and are sometimes personal and related to the learner and sometimes related to components outside the learner. External components are also related to the target language, the teacher, the educational environment, and the text. This article addresses some of the misconceptions of language learners, such as lack of self-confidence, knowing the second language better or worse, the need to learn a second language in a short time, not having the right age for language learning, teaching a second language in an environment other than in the classroom, teaching a language without practice and solely with the help of memory, and teaching a second language like a native language. This article aims to help language learners identify and strengthen positive misconceptions while seeking to change negative misconceptions. It also helps teachers to better teach second languages to language learners and to improve their educational process
