Abstract

The present study evaluated the effect of three blended learning models (flipped classroom, station rotation, and enriched virtual) on the satisfaction and progress of Persian learners in learning vocabulary in use in online environments. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with independent groups was employed, involving 45 beginner-level Persian learners of Iraqi nationality at the Hayat al-Nufous Institute. Participants were selected through convenience and purposive sampling and were equally assigned to three groups. Data collection instruments included a vocabulary in use test, and the standardized Online Student Satisfaction Survey (Bolliger & Halupa, 2012). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey’s post hoc test, and effect size calculation. The results indicated that all three models led to significant improvement in vocabulary learning; however, the station rotation model, with the highest posttest mean score (M = 21.80) and the greatest level of satisfaction (M = 88.5), outperformed the other models. ANOVA confirmed a statistically significant difference between groups in the satisfaction variable, with a large effect size (η² = 0.344). In contrast, differences in vocabulary learning progress among the groups were small and nonsignificant. Overall, the findings suggest that the interactive and step-based design of the station rotation model not only enhances learners’ satisfaction but also contributes to improvement in learning Persian vocabulary in use in online settings.
