Abstract
This article examines two important semantic relations, synonymy and antonymy, and their teaching methods in the Persian language book series. The aim of this research is to identify the teaching methods of semantic relations in this book series and create a platform for enriching Persian language textbooks for non-Persian speakers. Since there are not many studies on semantic relations and their teaching methods in Persian language textbooks, the authors conducted their research in this field, specifically in the four-volume book series "Persian Language" by Dr. Ahmad Safar Moghaddam. The results show that as learners gradually understand semantic relations and their correlation with teaching these relations, the content and teaching order of vocabulary in the synonymy and antonymy sections are not appropriate in volume one but are gradually covered in volumes two, three, and four. As expected, the use of semantic relations increases from volume one to subsequent volumes, as most of the teaching material in volume one is about pronunciation, very simple vocabulary, and a brief section on Persian grammar. Antonymy cases are more prevalent in volume one and synonymy cases are more prevalent in volume three. In total, 188 cases of synonymy (48.83%) and 197 cases of antonymy (16.51%) were used. In general, the use of semantic relations in synonymy and antonymy forms in this book series plays a major role in creating an understanding of words, concepts, and idioms in the learner's mind, as well as in establishing mutual communication and understanding, and reducing the difficulty of teaching.
