Abstract

Language is a tool for communication between human beings, and this communication is not possible without knowing the culture of the target language. This is very obvious among language learners who intend to continue their education in Iran. The purpose of this article is to examine the level of interest of language learners in learning culture and the level of attention of Azfa teachers to culture education. In this article, using the Morgan generalizability table, fifteen-minute interviews were conducted with 28 high-level instructors of Azfa and 80 middle-level Persian-speaking students of the "Azfa Center of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad". The results of this study show that language learners want to get acquainted with Iranian culture, but do not want to discuss it in the classroom. Instructors, on the other hand, place more emphasis on teaching cultural points directly in the classroom, and this inequality leads to more frustration for both parties. In the end, according to the obtained results, we provide solutions for teaching culture so that Iranian culture can be taught to language learners without negative feedback in an effective way.
